Immerath is gone.<\/strong> <\/strong>Immerath was a village in the surface coal mining area „Garzweiler II“ in Germany. As the mining moves forward, more and more small villages were removed, their inhabitants evicted if they did not want to move. The irony is, the coal is not even necessary any more.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

While Immerath is already gone long ago, L\u00fctzerath was in broader media attention in 2023 as climate activitsts occupied the village. There was way less buzz about Immerath. <\/p>\n\n\n
